WMLF Member Appreciation Day
As most of you are aware, the WMLF board cancelled the Becker Best event that was originally scheduled for Oct 19 at Becker Lake due to the inclement weather (wind, rain and even some snow!!) that suppressed turnout. Plus, I was really cold!
As promised, we have rescheduled the event. Here are the details:
New Date: Wednesday, December 4. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
New Location: The Elk's club in Chandler, located at1775 West Chandler Road, Chandler, AZ 85224. This is on the SW corner of West Chandler Blvd and Pennington Street. It is partially behind a car wash, but trust me it is there!
Dinner options: The Elks will bring in their cook staff to prepare sandwich items to order. Options include Burgers, Cheeseburgers, Patty Melts, Chicken fingers and Chicken Salad sandwiches. They come with fries or tater tots. The Elk's also have a full bar, so you can wash down your sandwich with a cold beer, soft drinks etc. Dinners are reasonably priced at $10.
Festivities: Similar to what was planned for the original date, we will have a raffle that is open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of WMLF to participate, (although we hope you will join us!) Because we've had some additional time, we've reached out to additional supporters of WMLF, and have significantly improved the raffle. Items include a Sage One 4 pc 8 weight (over $1000 retail), 2 certificates for guided fishing trips (thanks Cinda and Todd!) An Oasis Grande Fly tying bench (beautiful item from Rick Weisberg that I'm lusting after) Reddington, Ross and Lamson reels, 100's of new flies, new fly boxes, new fins, vests, sling packs, and many, many other items.
Membership Rod Raffle: We will also have the much anticipated drawing for the Dave Weaver built 9 foot 4 weight rod built on a Winston Air 2 blank. This rod is built using the finest components, and features a custom turned grip. Retail on the factory built version is $1195, and this rod is so much cooler. To participate in this drawing you need to be a member of WMLF who has paid their annual dues, or is a lifetime member. Not a member yet?? There's still time to join! Go to WMLF.ORG, push the "Join Us" button and follow the instructions. Anyone who joins by December 3 will be added into the drawing.
In conclusion, please mark your calendars for Wednesday December 4, and join us for an evening of food, fellowship, and a cool raffle. Bring your fly fishing buddies along, there is room for everyone! Hope to see you there.
